Invited Speaker Professor Yiannis Kalogirou at INNOVATHENS at the exhibition “160 years of Greek industry: a historical review of the critical turning points and its evolution”
Professor Yannis Kalogirou, Professor of NTUA, as a guest speaker, presented a speech at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub of Technopolis INNOVATHENS on 15 February 2018, entitled “160 years of Greek industry: a historical review of the critical turning points and its evolution”, the presentation entitled “The evolution of Greek industry and industrial policy (1974-present): what happened, what we learned and what can be done”.
In more detail, at INNOVATHENS three academics -among them Christina Agriantoni, who is the scientific editor of the exhibition- gave an overview of Greek industrial history. Starting from its beginnings, a few years after the foundation of the new Greek state, they went through its major turning points, linked to open national fronts, wars, bankruptcies and successive emergencies, analyze the brilliant period of post-war boom until the beginning of the deindustrialization of the 1970s, which affected the entire Western world, and conclude with a rough assessment of its current situation.
