On Friday, February 3, 2017, the “1st Greek Law Digest Conference 2017: Legal and Business Challenges in Today’s Greece” successfully concluded. The event was organized by the Legal Library and the Legal Guide “Greek Law Digest – The Official Guide to Greek Law” in collaboration with the Economia Group. The conference brought together many professionals from education, politics, and both the public and private sectors.

Professor Yannis Caloghirou of NTUA, Director of the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics (LIEE), was invited to deliver a lecture titled “Research & Technology – Tools for Exiting the Crisis.” Yannis Caloghirou presented the opportunities that investment in research and the utilization of its results by the domestic production and business system offer to the country. He then described the current state of the domestic research system and made proposals based on the extensive research activity and experience of LIEE.

An important conclusion is that the Greek research system, despite the difficulties it faces, has endured and maintains its competitive position internationally and within Europe, especially in competitive funded European Framework Programs.
