Presentations of course work “Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, academic year 2015-2016

On Wednesday, February 17, 2016, the presentations of the projects of the course “Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship” of the 9th semester of the School of Chemical Engineering of NTUA were held. The subject of each project was the preparation of a business plan for the creation of a new company characterized by some innovation.

In general, the business plan includes a description of the specific business idea and the need it aims to cover, an analysis of the relevant market, the marketing strategy of the company and information about its internal organization. Also, within the framework of the project, the students carry out a financial analysis using the computational tool provided in the course as well as a SWOT analysis. In addition to the above, reference is made to the future steps-perspectives of each company.

In total, 9 projects were presented by a total of 25 students of the Schools of Chemical Engineering and Mining Engineering – Metallurgy of NTUA. The business ideas concerned the processing sector (food production, electrical and chemical devices, recycling, etc.).

Distinction of NTUA PhD Emilia Protogerou

The Scientific Council of the European Association for Evolutioanry Political Economy (EAEPE) has assigned Dr. Emilia Protogerou the coordination of the new research area created within it, which concerns “Entrepreneurship and Theory of the Firm”.

The next EAEPE Conference, which will include at least two sessions on this new research area, will be held at Manchester Metropolitan University in England, November 3-5, 2016.

Distinguished by Professor Yiannis Kalogiros of NTUA and the LIEE at the 13th International Globelics Conference

The 13th Globelics International Conference was held in Havana (Cuba) from 23 to 25 September 2015 with the theme “Innovation to reduce poverty and inequalities for inclusive and sustainable development”.

At this conference, NTUA Professor Yiannis Kalogirou was entrusted with the organization and conduct of the 15th Globelics International Conference, which will be held in Greece. This distinction is important for the Professor and for his team, because this conference is world-renowned and constitutes an international network for the economics of education, innovation, and systematic capacity building.

Distinction for the laboratory members at the Thomaidian Prize 2014

The members of the laboratory were distinguished by being awarded the Thomadeus Prize entitled “Thomaideus Prize for the Award of Publications” for scientific papers in 2013. The members were distinguished in two different categories:

The subject of each assignment was the preparation of a business plan for the creation of a new company characterized by some innovation.

In general, the business plan includes a description of the specific business idea and the need it aims to cover, an analysis of the relevant market, the marketing strategy of the company and information about its internal organization. Also, within the framework of the assignment, the students carry out a financial analysis using the computational tool provided in the course as well as a SWOT analysis. In addition to the above, reference is made to the future steps-perspectives of each company.

In total, 9 assignments were presented by a total of 35 students. The business ideas concerned both the manufacturing sector (production of food and electronic, electrical and chemical devices) and the services sector (online services, innovative food delivery methods, etc.).
