Speech by Professors G. Kalogirou and A. Tsakanikas at the Exploiting IP at universities: European progress conference 2018

NTUA Professor G. Kalogirou and NTUA Assistant Professor and Vice President of the Industrial Property Organization A. Tsakanikas participated as speakers at the Exploiting IP at universities: European progress conference 2018, which was organized on October 18-19 by the European Patent Academy, the Industrial Property Organization and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Athens.

The conference offers practices exchange on how to exploit IP at universities in Europe. It will concentrate on how to raise IP awareness, promote IP education and foster technology transfer. Topics will range from IP policies to engaging TTOs in raising awareness activities and better exploiting research results as well as open science and patents, building new indicators for IP performance and on how to raise funds for innovations. To this end, we would like to invite University, TTO and Ministry representatives as well as European academic networks active in the field to discuss the best way forward. This edition of the two-day conference will be organized by the European Patent Academy of the European Patent Office in co-operation with the Hellenic Industrial Property Organization.

Objectives

After the conference you will have an overview of best practices in IP awareness, IP education and IP exploitation within the academic world in the 38 EPC contracting states. You will learn about existing networks and experts in the field as well as new tools, products and programs to better exploit IP in universities in Europe.

Prerequisites

You will have to be nominated by a national patent office (NPO). In case of interest please contact the respective NPO of your country. If you experience difficulties in reaching out to the NPOs, please contact the EPO.
