Ermoupolis Seminar on the Information Society 2016
The INFOSTRAG Team of the Industrial and Energy Economics Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens held this year again the Seminar on the Information Society & the Knowledge Economy within the framework of the annual seminars organized by the Institute for Historical Research of the National Research Foundation (EIE) in Ermoupolis, Syros. The seminar was held from the morning of Friday, July 8 to the morning of Sunday, July 10 at the venue that is held every year, namely in the “Parthenon” hall of the University of the Aegean (building of the old 1st Gymnasium of Syros).

- The Seminar was entitled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Infrastructures, Networks and Services” and included the following thematic sections:
- Friday, July 8, 10:00 – 13:30: Research, Innovation and Development in Greece in the context of the crisis: Opportunity or luxury?
- Friday, July 8, 18:00 – 21:30: A new Strategic Framework for the development of Smart Cities.
- Saturday, July 9, 10:00 – 13:30: More efficient operation of networks, infrastructures and services in local government: Prospects, obstacles, challenges.
- Saturday, July 9, 18:00 – 21:30: Innovative Entrepreneurship: Promising New Ventures (to be held in English).
- Keynote speech and participation by Johan Van den Bossche of the Belgian organization SO Kwadraat, which deals with the guidance of new business ventures.
- Presentation of innovative ventures.
6. Sunday, July 10, 10:30 – 13:00:
- Keynote speech by Achilleas Mitsos [Professor of the University of the Aegean and former Director General of Research at the European Commission (2000 – 2005)] entitled “After Brexit what?”, with emphasis on the possible impacts of Brexit on research, technology and innovation issues.
