The Industrial and Energy Economics Laboratory of the School of Chemical Engineering of NTUA, in collaboration with the National Documentation Center and Kritiki Publications, organized on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the National Research Foundation (L. Zervas Amphitheater) Vas. Konstantinou 48, the event for the presentation of the book “The Entrepreneurial State” by University of Sussex professor Mariana Mazzucato. The book is published by Kritiki Publications with an introduction and editing by NTUA professor Yiannis Kalogirou and translation by Petros Papazacharios. The book will be discussed by Professor Emeritus of the University of Athens, Kostis Vaitsos, Evi Sahini, Director of the Greek Research Foundation, and Yiannis Kalogirou, while the keynote speaker will be Mariana Mazzucato, who will be addressed by the Deputy Minister of Research and Innovation, Professor Kostas Fotakis.

Marianna Mazzucato is Professor of Innovation Economics and holds the RM Philips Chair at the University of Sussex and at the SPRU (Science Policy Research Unit), the first interdisciplinary research center in Europe focusing on policies for Research, Technology and Innovation, founded 50 years ago by the pioneer in Innovation Studies, Professor Chris Freeman. Her book “The Entrepreneurial State” is a landmark in the international debate on the relationship between the state and innovation and entrepreneurship. It was selected by the Financial Times and Forbes as one of the books of the year for 2013. In addition, in 2014, the author received the “New Statesman SPERI Prize in Political Economy” in Britain and the “Wirtschaftsbuchpreis” in Germany.

The book has been translated into Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch, and is expected to be translated into Chinese, Polish, Japanese and Korean.
