The INFOSTRAG Team of the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) held the 12th Seminar on the Information Society & the Knowledge Economy, as part of the annual seminars organized by the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (EIE) in Ermoupolis, Syros.

The seminar took place from the morning of Friday, July 7th to the morning of Sunday, July 9th, in the events hall of the Cyclades Chamber of Commerce.

The seminar was titled: “Smart Development, Employment, and Prosperity in the Digital Age”, and included the following thematic sessions:

• Friday, July 7th, 10:00 – 13:30: “Smart city” and open governance: A framework for local development?

• Friday, July 7th, 18:00 – 21:30: Europe in Start-up mode (held in English).

• Saturday, July 8th, 10:00 – 13:30: Smart Specialization: Theoretical origins and evolution of the concept, and its application in European and Greek regions

• Saturday, July 8th, 18:00 – 21:30: The second Machine Age: Developments and Impacts

• Sunday, July 9th,

  • Part A (10:00 – 12:00): Proposals for introducing Innovation and Open Source Software in Education

  • Part B (12:00 – 13:00): Seminar Conclusions – General Discussion
