Invited Speaker at the ELIAMEP-RISE workshop was Prof. Yiannis Kalogirou, Professor of NTUA
Professor Yannis Kalogerou, Professor of NTUA, as a guest speaker, presented a speech at the Tour d’Europe, ELIAMEP-RISE workshop on “Europe’s Research and Innovation Policy, Athens” entitled “The Greek Research and Innovation System and its potential contribution to the revitalisation of the Greek economy”.
The event was organized by the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and Professor Achilleas Mitsos on behalf of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy. Participants from the Greek side, including Patricia Kyprianidou, Secretary General of R&D, as well as representatives from the private sector, universities, public research organisations, foundations and the government’s advisory body. The RISE delegation was led by Mary Ritter with Teresa Riera Madurell, Luke Georghiou, RISE book authors Andrea Bonaccorsi, Lena Tsipouri, Andres Rodriguez-Pose, and EU expert Ester Martinez-Ros.
The main messages from the event were: 1.Full accessibility can help reform, 2.Use underused resources, 3.Shift from a rules-based to a people-centred policy, 4.The Framework Programme (FP) and the Structural Funds are two separate policies but implementation needs synergies, 5.The next FP should combine continuity with renewal.
