The Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics (LIEE) is an academic unit in the School of Chemical Engineering, National Technical University.
The LIEE provides financial and administrative knowledge of high level by continuing the tradition of the School of Chemical Engineering NTUA that started in the 60s by the initiative of Professor Aggelos Kalogera, pioneer for his time and in the Greek area. The current staff and line of research was carried out in the early 90s with the decisive contribution of the Director, Lefteris Papagiannakis.
The educational project that provides the LIEE focuses on the modern chemical engineer as a scientist who is able to understand the economic environment, constraints and challenges that these pose to the exercise of his profession and of the industrial activity in general. Also, LIEE provides, at postgraduate level, a wide range of courses associated with basic research directions.
In particular, research in LIEE has developed in the following areas:
- Economic and Strategic Analysis of Industry, Innovation and Technology
- Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy
- Technological, Economic and Strategic Analysis of the Information Society
- Operations Research and Decision Making
In all of these areas the LIEE conducts basic and applied research in programs funded by the European Union, government agencies and private sources. To this end, it has developed a wide network of collaborators from universities, research institutes and other scientific organizations in Greece and abroad that have similar or complementary interests.
