Smart Cities Consortium event, Thursday 23/4/2015
On Thursday, April 23, from 2-5pm, at the premises of the innovation and entrepreneurship hub EPI.noo – NTUA (6-8 Vlachava, Monastiraki), an event was held to present the work of the Smart Cities Consortium. The Consortium is made up of the Municipalities of Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion Crete, the INFOSTRAG research group of the Industrial and Energy Economics Laboratory (LIEE) of NTUA, the non-profit Free Software/Open Source Software Association (ELLAK), the Association of Mobile Application Companies of Greece (SEKEE) and the Association of Mobile Telephony Companies (EEKT).
The event was opened by Professor Yiannis Kalogirou of NTUA (INFOSTRAG Team – LIEE/NTUA) and Theodoros Karounos of ΕΕΛ/ΛΑΚ .
In the first section, strategic issues for the smart city were developed with the first speaker being Panagiotis Panagiotopoulos, a researcher of the INFOSTRAG Team (LIEE/NTUA). The baton was taken by Mr. Prodromos Tsiavos of ELLAK and was followed by Stratis Katakos from the Municipality of Athens, Babis Tsitlakidis from the Municipality of Thessaloniki and Kostis Mohianakis from the Municipality of Heraklion Crete. Speeches on the issue of strategy were also given by Giorgos Stefanopoulos of ΕΕΚΤ and Yiannis Giannarakis of SEKEE.
The second section referred to the Commitment (eu-smartcities.eu/commitment/7948) concerning the Consortium in the context of the European action eu-smartcities.eu, and to the actions of the municipalities around it. Panagiotis Kranidiotis from EEL/LAK made a presentation of the Commitment while Stratis Katakos, Babis Tsitlakidis and Kostis Mohianakis presented the relevant actions (open data sets, etc.) of the Municipalities of Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion Crete respectively.
Finally, an interesting discussion followed with the other participants in the event.
